Alejandro and Tom have been working together on various musical projects for the last four years. Coming from very different musical backgrounds the collaborations have always been a melting pot of styles, genres and ideas. Alejandro was raised in the tradition of Flamenco and played as a percussionist and guitarist in various Flamenco fusion groups in Andalusia before moving to the UK in 2010. Here, his own compositions have fused Latin and Flamenco rhythms with jazz, blues and rock. Tom is a multi-instrumentalist and music teacher from Bristol, where the influences of West-African music, soul, jazz, blues, rock and reggae shaped his musical development. As a duo, Tom and Alejandro currently host weekly cajón workshops in Bristol which are notoriously good fun.
Summoning the driving force of Latin rhythms and invoking the vitality and passion of Flamenco, these workshops will have absolute beginners and experienced percussionists alike playing rhythms with a newly-discovered fire and energy. Introducing a few basic techniques and some simple tools to begin improvising and creating your own patterns, these inspiring and enjoyable sessions will begin to unlock the secrets of Latin, Western, Middle-Eastern, African and Flamenco rhythms.
